Burying The Hatchet
At the Knoll in Sherington, peace was made between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge at a spot equidistant between the two cities.
The village pump was used to wash away the bitterness of times past, a dove was released and a tree planted. On 24 February 1995, a re-enactment of the original ceremony was held and the two universities reaffirmed their vows.
