John retired as an employee of Milton Keynes Council in 2012 and now devotes his time to various voluntary activities. He is a trustee of the MK Rose Trust; Camphill (Milton Keynes) Communities and Tools for Self Reliance – MK, which he chairs. Married to Muriel and with two sons, John was awarded the MBE in 2012 for services to young people and the community of Milton Keynes. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2013 and was involved in the successful bid for Milton Keynes’ city status in 2022.
