March 2026

This year the St. David’s Day event on 1 March focussed on the work of Gareth Jones, regarded as one of Wales’ greatest journalists who during his short life travelled the world reporting on many of the most momentous events of the 20th century. Jones, who died in mysterious circumstances aged 30, reported on Stalin’s famine across the Soviet Union and the man-made starvation of the Ukrainian people in the Holodomor.

The event which was attended by 25 people included speeches about Jones’ work and its relationship to the values proclaimed by St David. It was followed by refreshments at the MK Gallery.
