The Friends of the Caribbean organised an event at the Milton Keynes Rose to mark Windrush Day on 22 June 2026. The Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and the Mayor of Milton Keynes were joined by a group of approximately 30 people who had come together to commemorate the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks on 22 June 1948, bringing workers from the Caribbean to help rebuild post-war Britain.
