April 2022
An exciting programme of dance is planned for International Dance Day at the Milton Keynes Rose.
International Dance Day is celebrated on 29 April each year, and there is a plaque at the Milton Keynes Rose in Campbell Park to mark the day.
This year, a programme of dance and music will be held at the Rose on Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April at 7 p.m. This is a free event and will bring together dance types from around the Milton Keynes area and beyond.
In addition, during the day on Saturday 30 April, various local dance groups will perform at the Rose and invite the public to join them.
Debbie Brock, Chair of the Milton Keynes Trust and the current High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire said: ‘As we emerge from the darkness of winter and the gloom of two years of pandemic, the Milton Keynes Rose Trust wanted to mark International Dance Day 2022 with a celebration of a new ‘Spring’.
Helen Parlor of MOTUS Dance, who is directing the event said: ‘Milton Keynes is alive with movement; from the corners of village halls to school halls and stages across the region. The Milton Keynes Rose gives a perfect source of inspiration and groups have been working with the inscriptions on the pillars to work with choreography that will move through the site’.
